Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

USA Today reported on the potential for a food supply crisis in the wake of the COVID-19 health crisis. Markets, Trade, and Institutions Division Director Rob Vos believes that if the new Congressional stimulus package isn’t enough to sustain the purchasing power of laid-off workers, “then people may have to start saving on food and shift to cheaper and less healthy foods.” Republished by Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
