Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Sohu News published an article on how export restrictions and panic purchasing are causing prices to soar. In spite of restrictions, Senior Research Fellow David Laborde stated, export restriction policies are still limited, so there is no need to worry about the food crisis at this stage. Division Director Rob Vos added, “What is certain is that even if (food) production is stopped now, there is no reason for China to worry about an immediate shortage.” Republished in The Paper and 163.com
