Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Ten Years of Research on Chronic Poverty

The Chronic Poverty Research Centre (CPRC) marked ten years of poverty research with an international conference, “Ten years of ‘war against poverty’. What we have learned since 2000. What we should do 2010-2020,” held in Manchester, UK, September 8-10.

Leading poverty researchers and development practitioners met to assess the current ‘state of the art’ in poverty reduction, highlight key CPRC research, and set the agenda for research and policy through 2020.
