Essay Competiton Winners

For ages 15-18. Competition in this age group was not restricted. All individuals in this age group were invited to present their views of the world food situation and the way ahead in English text. Groups were allowed to work on a joint presentation or individuals wrote up their own vision. The text took many forms, such as essays, short stories, and poems.

Winners are listed below; these essays, along with selected quotes from other entries, can also be found in a booklet entitled "A Better World for 2020: Wake-up Calls from the Next Generation".

Grand Prize: US$500 (plus a trip to Bonn, Germany, in September 2001 to attend the conference)
