To assure the Conference's relevance, impact, and follow up, the Conference is being designed in close consultation with an Advisory Committee of distinguished African policymakers, researchers, and civil society leaders as well as representatives of partner/co-sponsor institutions has been assembled. The Committee held its first meeting on May 2, 2003 in Entebbe, Uganda.
